jana bricker

Jana walked into her first yoga class in January, 2000.  After studying Ashtanga, Anusara, Baptiste, Forrest, Bikram, and White Lotus Flow, she decided that her favorite classes were the ones that mixed them all together in Vinyasa Flow.  This is the style she currently teaches and practices.

Jana completed a 200-hour teacher training in 2005.  Her practice continues to evolve through the retreats, workshops, and teacher trainings she attends with senior instructors such as Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Ana Forrest, Tias Little, Mitchel Bleier, and Rod Stryker.  She is also consistently inspired by the wealth of knowledge found within Chicago’s yoga instructors.

Jana has participated in numerous long-distance swimming and running events along with Olympic and Half-Iron distance triathlons.  Specializing in a more athletic flow, Jana creates a fun, challenging, and balancing practice for students of all levels. As a music lover and iTunes addict, she creates a new playlist for every class - East, West, Old, and New combine in an eclectic mix.

She believes that with a commitment to the practice of integrating body, mind, and breath through yoga, you will find strength where you are weak, surrender where you hold attachment, and a sense of opening where you feel blocked.

Jana is a licensed and national board certified practitioner of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.  She strives to incorporate her personal experience and passion for well being into each yoga class, treatment, and consultation.

I remember thinking that Downward Dog was pure torture, and the teacher was referring to it as a “resting” pose...

“Kiss” by Prince. Every once in awhile I’ll throw it on my class playlist, but I’m guessing that not everyone likes to downdog dance as much as I do so it’s a relatively rare inclusion.
